They called him Hutch.
The origin of the name is more myth than record. Some say Hutch was the beloved companion of Elijah Turner, a lesser-known abolitionist and wandering preacher rumored to have walked through Georgia and Alabama, spreading messages of resistance wrapped in psalms. Turner had no wealth, no weapons, only a small pack, his words, and Hutch. The story goes that Hutch once kicked down the gates of a plantation, giving Turner a narrow escape from slave catchers. Whether true or not, it didn’t matter.
To the founder of Hutch & Blue, it was gospel.
Hutch isn’t just a name, he’s a symbol. A nod to every ancestor whose sacrifice made it possible.
